SORAYA NICOLE DAY

Soraya Nicole Day was born on July 25, 1982, to the

late Tamara and Tyrone Day both of Philadelphia, PA. She was

educated in the Philadelphia Public School System graduating

with honors from Frankford High School in 2000.

As a child, Soraya was quite shy and was a bit of a crybaby

earning the nickname “Wendy Whiner”. She grew to be outspoken

and strived to be the best at everything. Soraya spent about five

years proudly dressed in blue and gold as a member of the 224

Drill Team and then in red, gold and blue as a teenager serving as

the Captain of the Frankford High Cheerleading Team. She also

served as a cheer coach for the Frankford Chargers and won first

place every year they competed.

Soraya spent a lot of her childhood and teenage years being the

“big sister” to her cousins. She enjoyed being the one that

everyone went to. On November 25, 2003, Soraya’s life changed

tremendously. She gave birth to Cianni Renea! She was so proud

to be a mother! Throughout Cianni’s life, Soraya was her biggest

cheerleader and supporter. Cianni, knowing that Soraya was

allergic to cats, somehow turned her into the mom with six cats.

As an adult, Cianni became her best friend. You could find them

two watching documentaries, laughing together, cooking together

and just enjoying one another’s company. Even once Cianni left

for college, Soraya kept the normalcy by doing those same things

via Facetime.

Soraya took pride in being a great friend to everyone. She would

do whatever she could to make you smile and laugh. It was

important to Soraya that her friends and family understood the

magnitude of togetherness. She would host parties with family

and friends to unite them. And if you ever got the invite to an

Eagles Super Bowl party…you were sure to have a good time!

You were sure to find Soraya yelling at the TV cheering her

Lakers while wearing something with Kobe on it. Or screaming at

the TV when the Eagles scored.

Soraya was preceded in death by her grandparents Annie Lee

and Edward Day; her parents Tamara and Tyrone Day; her

brother-in-love Raheem Jubilee; her aunt Lucille Booker; her

uncle Sid Booker Jr. and her beloved dog Missy.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter Cianni Renea;

sisters Kia Gary and Myrtice King; brother Andrew Day; nieces

Ty’jae, Ty’ki and Ty’lia; god-sister Tanyra; god-children Leghend,

Tyshiymah and Tysean; bonus children Ashlyn and One; best

friends Jessica Lassiter and Sporty Jones.
