SHAQUEL HAZEEM MAGWOOD

On August 7, 1993, God blessed the world with the precious gift of Shaquel Hazeem Magwood,

affectionately known to everyone as "Shaq." Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Shaq was the

beloved son of Ms. Tameka Magwood and Maurice Young. From the very beginning, Shaq's life

was one of resilience, unconditional love, and quiet determination. Though he faced unique challenges

as a child with special needs, he touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him

with his gentle spirit and unforgettable smile.

Shaq was christened at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children at an early age. He received his formal

education and life skills training at Wood Services, where he flourished in an environment that

nurtured his growth and independence. There, he learned valuable daily living skills, formed

meaningful friendships, and discovered activities that brought him happiness. In June 2014, Shaq

proudly graduated from Wood Services, a milestone that reflected his perseverance and the

unwavering support of those who loved him.

Never allowing limitations to define him, Shaq embraced opportunities to shine. He proudly

participated in the Special Olympics, where his determination, sportsmanship, and joyful spirit earned

him Gold Medals and numerous awards. Every achievement was celebrated not only for the medals he

received but for the courage and heart he displayed every step of the way.

Shaq found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved listening to music of every genre, often

finding comfort and happiness in its melodies. Cartoons were among his favorite pastimes, bringing

laughter and excitement to his days. One thing everyone knew about Shaq was his special attachment

to his beloved "LaLa." It was his constant companion, bringing him comfort wherever he went, and

he was rarely seen without it.

Although Shaq wasn't particularly fond of having his picture taken, his family lovingly found ways to

capture precious memories that will now be treasured forever. Those photographs serve as reminders

of his beautiful spirit, his unique personality, and the love he shared with those around him.

Shaq's life was a testament to unconditional love, perseverance, and the beauty of seeing the world

through a pure and gentle heart. He taught his family patience, compassion, and the importance of

celebrating every victory, no matter how small. His presence brought immeasurable joy, and his

memory will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

Shaq leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted mother, Tameka Magwood; his father,

Maurice Young; his beloved sister, Marshay Washington; his grandmother, Mary Magwood; his

grandfather, Melvin Francis; his loving aunts, Latisha Magwood and Cheryl Magwood; his uncle,

Theodore, with whom he proudly shared the same birthday; and a host of cousins, extended family

members, caregivers, and dear friends who will forever carry his love in their hearts.

Though Shaq's earthly journey ended on July 2, 2026, the love he gave so freely and the lives he

touched will remain a lasting legacy. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever

cherished.
