THE LIFE STORY/CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Eric J. Bennings was born November 14th, 2000, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Mahondo Bennings and Pebbles Freeman. He attended Laura Wheeler Waring Elementary School and later graduated from Job Corps in the Poconos.

Eric pursued his passion as an independent artist preparing to release an album in 2027. Eric was known for his singing and dancing any and everywhere. Eric pursued a career with the Lower North Philadelphia Community Development Corporation, where he was dedicated to keeping our streets clean for many years. Eric cherished Sundays with family, especially going to his grandmother’s house for some good ole soul food. A devoted Philadelphia E.A.G.L.E.S Eagles fan, Eric loved the game. He loved his family deeply, especially his nieces, and enjoyed life with enthusiasm.

He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Mahondo Bennings and Pebbles Freeman; his great grandmother Betty Jean Jennings; his sisters Erica Bennings and Zahirah Freeman-Turner; his God-sister Dayana Williams; his nieces Zaniyah, Zahiyyah, and Zariyah; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, his best friend Dada, and a host of loving friends and family.

Eric, your time with us was far too short, but the love you shared, the music you carried in your own way and the memories made at the family gatherings will live on through us. You were loved, you are deeply missed, and you’ll forever hold a special place in our hearts. Your memory remains a blessing.

Forever My Little Brother, Eric

Poem

My little brother Eric,

only twenty-five years young,

with so much life ahead of you,

but now your journey is done.

You loved to dance,

you loved to eat,

and you always had to look so sweet.

Fresh clothes, looking nice,

stepping out with your own style—

that was you,

and that unforgettable smile.

You brought laughter into our lives

in ways you probably never knew.

And no matter how much time passes,

there will always be a part of me

that belongs to you.

I keep wishing I could see you,

hear your voice,

and watch you dance again.

I’d give anything for just one more day,

one more laugh,

one more hug,

one more “I love you,” my little brother.

Twenty-five years wasn’t long enough.

You deserved so many more.

But God called you home,

and though my heart is broken,

I know your memory will live forever.

Dance freely in Heaven, Eric.

Eat all the good food you can find.

Get dressed up, look down on us,

and know that you are always on our minds.

You weren’t just my little brother—

you were a piece of my heart.

And even though death has separated us,

it can never tear our love apart.

Rest peacefully, Eric.

Until we meet again,

I love you forever,

my little brother.
