LIFE STORY

Dwayne Maurice Robbins was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at Women's Medical Hospital on March 8, 1979. He was the beloved son of Anita Robbins and the late John Lawton.

Dwayne grew up as a member of the Old Ship of Zion and attended the Home School Program, where he later earned his GED. He went on to work a variety of jobs throughout his life. Like many in his family, he started working at Wendy's, then discovered his love for driving and went on to drive everything he could—cars, buses, and trucks—always striving to provide for his family. He was also known for his love of gambling, which brought him both excitement and many stories to share with those around him. In his thirties, Dwayne was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. As the disease progressed, he was forced to stop working in 2024. However, his health challenges never deterred him from serving The Lord God of the One. Instead, they strengthened his faith. Even after losing part of his leg, Dwayne became more steadfast in his belief, realizing that it is better to enter the Kingdom of God halt or maimed than to gain the whole world and lose one's soul. Dwayne was known for his beaming smile and hearty laugh. No matter the situation—good, bad, or somewhere in between—he could always find a reason to smile and bring laughter to those around him. To say he had a fondness for gambling would be an understatement. While he may not have always been lucky, whenever he won, he immediately thought of others. Dwayne's generosity was unmatched. He found great joy in helping people and seeing them happy. Beyond his love for The Lord God of the One, Dwayne was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He was also a passionate fan of Philadelphia sports, faithfully supporting every team and proudly wearing their colors. His loyalty never wavered. Dwayne is survived by his mother, Anita; his brothers, Johnny, Jerome, Demetrius, Joshua, and Raphael; and his sister, Hannah. He is also survived by the mother of his children, his ex-wife, Stacy Robbins, with whom he retained a good friendship for the rest of his life; his five sons, Judas, James, Jeremiah, Joel, and Jordan; one daughter, Jade; and one granddaughter. He leaves behind his uncles, Nathan (Christine),Dwight (Carol),Rickie(Rachel), and David (Leah); his aunts, Karen (Matt), Marjorie and Sarah; his brother-in-law, Adam; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory forever.

In his lifetime, Dwayne was many things—a father, a son, a brother, a cousin, an uncle, a nephew, and a grandfather. But to all of us, he was a true friend.
