Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Doris J. Williams, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 18, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of those whose lives she touched.
Doris was born on March 26, 1929, in Mount Olive, North Carolina, to the late Claude and Annabelle Edwards. She was the eldest of two children. Doris graduated from Douglass High School and continued her education at North Carolina Central University, where she completed one year of study.
Doris dedicated much of her life to serving others through her work. She began her career with the federal government in 1949 and faithfully served until her retirement in 1985. Never one to slow down, she later worked for Wells Fargo before retiring once again. She also devoted herself to helping care for her adopted son, Tyrone, until fully retiring in 2012.
In November 1961, Doris met the love of her life, Wornor Williams. The couple married on February 21, 1962, and together they built a loving home centered on faith, family, and devotion. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Kristi, who became the joy and love of their lives.
Doris lived a rich and fulfilling life, surrounded by the love of family and cherished friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, unwavering love, and the lasting impact she made on everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wornor Williams, and her brother, Donald Edwards.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving daughter, Kristi; her son-in-law, [Tylsign/Tylsign]; her adopted son, Tyrone; her nephews, Ricky and Keith; her niece, Cheryl; and a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
Though Doris is no longer with us in body, her legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
