           THE LIFE, LOVE and CELEBRATION

Of

DELORIS MCCRAE-MOORE

CUPID: Deloris McCrae-Moore affectionately known as “Lola” was born in Battleboro, NC on April 7, 1952. Lola was the youngest of 3- children born to Bertha King and the late Julius McCrae. TAKE ME IN YOUR ARMS: Deloris was educated in the Edgecombe County School System. After completing her education, Lola relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In Philadelphia is where Lola met the love of her life Willie Lee Moore “Junebug”. Everyone knew when you saw Junebug you saw Lola. To this union were 4-children: Stephanie, Louis, William and Virginia-her Lucy.

BE MY BABY: In God’s wisdom and way a very special baby was added to the Moore family. Deloris and Willie were blessed with a God-Child Mekia Ruff whom they affectionately nicknamed “Big Red”. The addition of this infant completed the Moore household. The love Lola and Junebug poured into their family they showered upon their Big Red.

CIGARETTES AND COFFEE: Deloris “Lola” has always been a stickler for a clean and organized home. With those attributes and traits Deloris was employed around the City of Philadelphia in various aspects of housekeeping (hotels, universities, nursing facilities etc). It is in housekeeping where she excelled and received accolades for her work. In any situation anyone found themselves in; she had a contact, she knew a phone number or she had some sort of connection that could help you. She knew how to get things done.

LAST TWO DOLLARS: Lola was known for being the life of the party. Her thing was Dropping It Like It Was Hot. She LOVED to bring family and friends together for food, drinks and good music. Lola’s love for the oldies music kept you reminiscing of the good times, those moments in the past where everyone would come together to love, laugh and party...maybe even argue(it was her famous jug of Corn). Lola knew everyone’s birthday and you were sure to get a call. For every family dinner, brunch or birthday celebration ”Lola” made her famous cabbage/greens and chopped barbecue. She was the family cook. Lola passed down a few recipes that will forever be treasured in our hearts and the generations to come.

STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN: With humble acceptance of God’s will on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 Deloris “Lola” transitioned to eternal rest to join those who had gone on before her. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Lee Moore, mother-in-law Reva Hackney, her father Julius McCrae, her 2 stepdaughters: Stephanie Presley & Virginia “Lucy” Moore, her 2 sisters: Kamell Dixon & Catherine Walker, brothers-in-law: Willie Frank Dixon, Freddie Hackney, Nathaniel Harris, James Irvin, sister-in-laws: Mary Hackney, Virginia Hackney, Barbara Harris, and Emma Irvin.

YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME HIGHER AND HIGHER: There are those left to honor, cherish and love Lola’s memories to include her Mother Bertha King, her Aunts Verda Waldo and Oscar Rae King, brothers-in-law Raymond Hackney and William Leroy Walker Sr., her sons William Moore, and Louis Moore(Jackie), her God-Daughter Mekia Onley (Johntrell), her 22-Grandchildren, 10-Great-Grandchildren; along with a great host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A very special love note for Mildred Hackney who is a sister-in-law to Deloris but she was much more than that; she is a very special friend whom she loved dearly.

Kick it up, kick it up....Back it on up and Act like you know. Turn the music up baby! LOLA
