Brenda Jackson entered this life on December 14, 1954, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late James Jackson and Connie Geiger Jackson. She was the third of six siblings and grew up in North Philadelphia.
At an early age, our parents discovered that Brenda was deaf, but the doctor firmly advised, “Do not treat her any differently than your other children.” Brenda’s life was full, vibrant, and active, and she never let her hearing loss define her.
Brenda cherished the times our parents would take us to Fairmount Park. She loved to play on the swings, slide down the giant slide, and skip rocks in the water. She enjoyed running to the Smith Playground and spending countless hours with her siblings.
Brenda also loved baseball games—she, her father, and three of her siblings would sit on the bench, excitedly watching the teams play. Holidays were always special, especially Easter egg hunts at the park, where Brenda’s laughter lit up the day.Brenda received her education in the Philadelphia School District and graduated from the Martin School for the Deaf in 1975.
She dedicated over 40 years of her life to the United States Postal Service, where she worked faithfully until her retirement. Brenda truly loved her job and was recognized with numerous honors, including Perfect Attendance as well as multiple plaques, awards, ribbons, and pens celebrating her dedication and service.
On October 29, 1976, Brenda welcomed her beloved son, Keith Aaron Jackson. Brenda was a devoted and loving mother, who gave her son unconditional love and unwavering support. Her greatest joy was being a mother, and Keith remained the center of her heart and life.
Brenda was also blessed with a large extended family whom she loved dearly—siblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she touched their lives in meaningful ways.
Brenda loved music and dancing. She enjoyed traveling and living life to the fullest. Her warm spirit, dedication, and loyalty made her a devoted friend and confidante to many. She lived with faith, grace, and joy, inspiring all who knew her.
Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James Jackson and Connie Geiger Jackson.
